About Trey

Trey Pruitt is the founder of Honey Rock Media, a video agency in Clarksville, Tennessee. A husband, father, and man of faith, he built the company on craft: cinematic brand films and social content good enough that he never lost a client. But most of his small-town clients still thought of him as a freelancer they'd hired, and every video still ran through his own hands.

The crisis

Shooting all day, editing until 2 a.m., clients waiting ten business days for deliverables. In his own words: “It's literally shooting and editing, and we're not building the business at all, or the systems.” He'd hired his first teammate, Jake, but couldn't let go of the work: “I'm such a feel editor... I just haven't trusted him, I guess.”

The work

An operating system that got the business out of his head: 85 recurring tasks that surface on the day they're due instead of living on post-it notes. Jake trained and trusted to run full shoots solo. Pricing corrected to the market, the same video that makes Clarksville gasp at $300 is “okay, cool” at $2,000 in Nashville. And a deliberate repositioning from freelancer to agency.

The proof

Revenue went $6,450 in January to $22,630 by April, with $23–28K months since. $45,000 sits in the business savings account. His first real-estate video pulled 20,000 views and produced two multi-million-dollar leads. A client has offered $50–60K a year, unprompted. And in July he took his family to the beach for the first time since founding the company, while Jake ran the shoots.

These are the phone calls that I enjoy. I would love for my wife to hear the back end of that call, because I want her to feel the passion and the inspiration and hear what you've done.
